kate for kamiseta

for the entire month of june, each time we drove down edsa, we were intrigued by this billboard: now what was sante d'orazio doing in a kamiseta billboard? italian-american sante d'orazio happens to be one of the most in-demand photographers in the international-fashion and hollywood-celebrity world. back in the 90s, his by-line would be on every glossy fashion magazine—vogue, bazaar, elle, mirabella, marie claire, allure, you name it! it still is, though not as often, and now mostly in european glossies, but back then he was the hot photog du jour (and by hot, we mean he was hot and he looked hot!), and a notorious modelizer. his most high-profile relationship was with 90s supermodel elsa benitez, who was originally from mexico and, in the looks department, is a cross between penelope cruz and phoemela baranda. we don't know what elsa's up to these days, but we miss her. she's gorgeous. maybe she can make a comeback like linda evangelista, the best supermodel of all time, in our opinion. although her US vogue cover (august 2006) is kinda boring...

the editorial inside is classic linda E!

above, the boring cover + that hair! those eyes! nose! lips! teeth! cheekbones! and those leeeeegs!! we've met linda before and got a good look at her up close when she came to manila years and years ago, and although her hair was not in the best shape (no thanks to all her crazy hair-color changes, for which she was famous), but the thing that struck us about her was the size of her head—it sure was small! it's weird to see in person, but in pictures, it works out because it makes her look so tall. so anyway! we digress. getting back to that billboard, before kamiseta unveiled the mystery of sante d'orazio, we got word from an LA connection that sante actually photographed kate hudson for the new kamiseta campaign. kate hudson? oscar nominee? for "almost famous," one of our desert-island favorites?? daughter of goldie hawn? (and bill hudson, but nobody remembers this member of the flash-in-the-pan pop band from the 70s called the hudson brothers, and they were actually kinda cute, especially brett ;-) yes, THAT kate hudson! looky! (ok, no complaints about the framing of this shot, it was taken while speeding down edsa!) the new billboard was finally unveiled a couple of weeks ago. the fash pack would like to congratulate kamiseta for snagging kate hudson because if we're not mistaken, this is her first endorsement ever! (but we wouldn't be surprised if she's already done something in japan. we think her blonde, fun-loving, sunshiney good looks appeal to the japanese...)
