why is SM so noisy?

one of the nicest things we noticed about baguio, aside of course from the cool weather and fresh air, is the peace and quiet. in manila, don't you notice that any time you enter a mall, a shop or a restaurant, your ears are assaulted by the LOUD music. sometimes it's so loud it doesn't sound like music anymore, just plain noise. or maybe you are already immune and don't even notice. you know it's bad when you're in a store and when you ask for your size, you actually have to SHOUT it (then everybody will know how big your hips are). or when trying to have a conversation while dining in a restaurant, you have to lean forward just to catch what your date is saying (akala mo sweet 'yon? hindi ah!). but in baguio, every restaurant we dined in and every store we shopped in did not bombard our ears with NOISE. there was music but it was not obtrusive. it was nice and pleasant. but that all changed when we entered SM city baguio. the entire mall is outfitted with speakers playing pop, rock and hip-hop at TOP volume. to make matters worse, the sound is scratchy and full of static. ugh. nasayang lang ang ambiance at concept nila of a "naturally air-conditioned" mall. and ganda pa naman ng view sa viewing deck...

Miss Fashpack, were you in Baguio last week for Therese Reyes's wedding? Can you please post it in your blog? I heard she wore an LZ Punzalan dress...Have a great week!

Yes, SM malls are (in)famous for their noise pollution. Sayang. They tried to recreate the atmosphere of being one with nature in Mall of Asia. The view's wonderful but Baguio's got the edge temperature wise.

I've been there recently. I agree with you that Baguio is generally void of noise pollution. That is, until you enter the SM mall. Gosh, even the basement parking has megaphone-like speakers blaring music. To top it all, they like to play ROCK music. So it was like a double whammy.

There's so much more to Baguo anyway, so it's wise to avoid SM at all costs.
