tina MO in vogue

we've been holding reporting about this until we actually saw it with our very own eyes. so yes folks it finally happened: tina maristela-ocampo is featured on page 230 in the december 2006 issue of US vogue (cover: nicole kidman). (click to enlarge, so you can read it:) last august, there was a buzz about another filipino talent being featured in US vogue, after bea valdes got two writeups there last year. then in september, a couple of columns in inquirer mentioned that tina was to be featured in the october issue of vogue. the october issue came and went, and no tina. the november issue came and went, still no tina. finally, the fash pack got it straight from the fashion diva’s (as the press loved to call her) mouth: she told us, “vogue decided to publish the feature in the december issue because they thought the bags would be more appropriate for the christmas season.” so when our subscription arrived today, we ripped it open and voila, there it was! always part of the A-list in most society parties and big events, tina maristela-ocampo (and her fashionable grand entrances) had been missing in action for the last year. and now we know why: she was busy re-inventing herself as a bag designer. her collection of minaudières carry the brand name “celestina” (tina’s full name) and are handmade right here in the philippines of exotic materials like shagreen, tortoiseshell (faux, we hope), mother-of-pearl, and metal, and decorated with semi-precious stones. they’re available at barneys new york and ikram in chicago, and on-line at vivre.com, from US$510 to US$1,115. wow, that's a lot for a banig bag. here's the diva herself at the monique lhuillier show, carrying a celestina minaudière: congratulations, tina!

Is the miniaudiere President GMA was carrying at Monique L'Huillier's show a Celestina? It looks like it.

sharp eyes, ned! yes, GMA was carrying a celestina (see post dated nov 13). it was a gift to her from asia society and bantay bata, when they accompanied monique lhuillier to malacañang.
