The newspaper accounts had it that he died at a friend's apartment, was discovered by a security guard and that his death was from 'natural causes'... this according to Jejomar Binay. How many sleeping deaths occur outside of one's own house? How many deaths in exclusive apartments are 'discovered' by security guards? How many deaths are proclaimed 'of natural causes' by the mayor (who does not possess an MD)?

In my opinion, these three things combined plant an enormous seed of doubt that Joel died of something other than 'natural causes'? However, I do agree with all of you, that he should rest in peace.

I went to high school with Joel in Rome, Italy. I was saddened by his loss. My condolences to his family and his close friends.

before you post all these malicous comments about how he died maybe you should get the facts straight cause thats how rumors start. Joel Tantoco was living in the unit owned by his friend celine lopez. It's the regina apartments in makati and the whole building is owned by the lopez family. He had asked the guard to wake him up at 7 am because he had a breakfast meeting at 8, this was why the guard found him dead. I am embarassed that you plant malicous ideas in peoples minds. May Joels sould Rest in Peace.

I attended high school in Italy and knew Joel. He was a quiet kid back then but had a great collections of dance records and a stereo system that made all of our jaws hit the floor. Joel's passing is a great loss to those of us who knew him even for a brief period of time. My condolences go out to his family. Rest in peace old friend.

Yes I agree, don't assume that natural causes could cause deaths. Why are you planting unneccesary information in people's minds? May bad karma come to you soon. That is an awful thing to say. It isn't nice to publish things like that on the internet.

I'm extemely sad to hear of Joel's passing. I hadn't been in contact with him in years, but we were close friends in college. I had always wanted to look him up on my next trip to the Philippines. I know his brothers Donnie and Gippy from my days at Conn. YOu were a good person Joel. Rest in peace.

What was malicious about the comment that the newspaper accounts post a seed of doubt? Say that the security guard was advised to wake him up... how then does Jejomar Binay know that he died of natural causes on the very day of the incident pronouncing this from the very building? Where there any tests conducted or an autopsy?

To what BENEFIT would the mayor of the city profess that someone 'died of natural causes' without the benefit of a proper investigation?

I may not have known the deceased personally and I do not question all the accounts of his goodness and great character... all that I stated was that there were dubious circumstances surrounding his death.

As for my being wished bad karma... if my karma is that people would look into my death with doubt when published reports are ambiguous then so be it! As for your wishing bad karma on me... I do not wish the same on you.

you are being malicous and you know it. so just fess up. it's natural and most people do it, so there's no need to get defensive. you were obviously provoking some kind of contrary conclusion without knowing the facts. joel tantoco was living in his friend's apartment alone. he had no maids and asked his friend, the security guard to give him a wake-up call for his 1st day at a new job. he was alone. mayor binay claimed it was due to natural causes because there were likely medical examiners around (as is standard procedure) who did not find anything suspicious. by the way, pancreatitis is a genetic condition and can affect even the seemingly healthy. so why not just give everything and everyone the benefit of the doubt? because who are we to judge, really? And do we really truly KNOW anything?? Everything we know is perceptive, relative and felt. may peace and light reign in all our lives.

I want to get married to a Tantoco. That would be like a Cinderella story. But it would be fun. Also, I deserve it. I'm educated and upper middle class. I deserve a man who is the same or better.
