post-VD report

so how did we spend valentine's day? we usually don't because we don't want to deal with traffic, [no] parking, overpriced valentine's day dinners, and lovey-dovey couples making googly eyes at each other, which only remind us that the romance has completely left our lives (inggit lang kayo!!). thank god there was an event that took the whole afternoon and made us forget just for a little while that men exist because the event was for women: the relaunch of YSL cosmetics, which is now handled by the luxasia group in the philippines (it used to be with either RMK or RCC—whatever, both companies are owned by the tantocos). meeting time was 1pm at le soufflĂ©, rockwell club, where we were greeted with mimosas. well, it's not too early to have a cocktail now, is it? by 1:30pm, we were all herded towards a fleet of jaguars, which was to take us to marionnaud in mall of asia, where the event was to be held. brill idea, baby, because no one wants to drive waaaay across town just to check out a makeup counter! even if it is YSL... when we got there, makeup artist jenny tan was waiting for her first victim, er, client to sit on the makeup chair... jenny is really making a name for herself in the field of makeup, as the official makeup artist for guerlain (also distributed by luxasia). what a lot of people don't know is that back in the 90s, jenny was one of the most in-demand editorial models. her wacky personality really shone through in her pictures back then. still does. and looky who we spotted in the chair of the makeup diva himself, ricci chan: it's the bag hag herself! we recognized her by that yummy chanel by her puwit. lovely, mrs. T! we got ourselves made up too, and as we sat on the chair, we barked, pile it on! none of that natural-beauty crap. everyday we look natural, i.e., no makeup, so we wanted something different. so we got smokey eyes, pale lips, the works! and there we were, all made up with nowhere to go... how sad :-(
