opening next month

we interrupt our singapore story to bring you something we spotted while driving by glorietta yesterday: this is located under the catwalk that connects rustan's and glorietta 4. this must be the space formerly occupied by marks & sparks, which used to be connected to rustan's essenses. hmmm, could this be the first of many gaps to open here? as mentioned in a previous post, they already have a space in trinoma and possibly at bonifacio high street. and we wonder, will it succeed here? in the US, the gap has been suffering losses in the last few years despite efforts to make it chic and hip: getting sarah jessica parker as image model AFTER "sex and the city"'s run, duh; getting the likes of doo.ri, rodarte, and thakoon to design limited-edition white shirts; and now hiring todd oldham as design creative director. oops, wrong news, he was appointed by old navy pala, another brand owned by the gap that is also suffering a sales slump. well, over at the gap, they've been hiring and firing key people. they've gotta do something and something fast! there are so many fashion brands out there and new ones popping up everyday. what is going to make shoppers continue buying from the gap? over in singapore, the first asian country to open a gap, we went in and out in two minutes flat. it was BORING. everything was dark and dreary and looked like they were made of cheap, itchy fabric. and the accessories were so-so, nothing fun to add a little character to a simple outfit. and let's not start with the prices! we remember back in the 80s when shopping at the gap in the US meant shopping cheap. not anymore. well, let's see what SSI brings in, hopefully their buyers will choose some interesting pieces and price them at the zara/mango level. can somebody bring in H&M already?? meanwhile, here's the scoop regarding the marc jacobs shops (yes, plural) opening within the last quarter. marc jacobs will open in greenbelt 4 in october. marc by marc jacobs will open in greenbelt 5 in november. oooo, our credit card's gonna get a super workout!!!

Answered prayer! Although a rumor, it's still good enough for me. The bit: SM will bring in H&M. (And spaced at Mall of Asia.) Can't wait!!!

It seems the stores opening in greenbelt 5 later this year wont be at the same level with the shops in greenbelt 4...considering ben sherman, marc by marc jacobs will be tenants at greenbelt 5,does this mean manila wont see other designer labels at par with lv gucci prada at greenbelt 5??sayang,we still dont have dior hermes dolce gabbana and chanel, which is just the same level with lv,and definitely will have a market if it materializes...

the Gap store in Singapore is yes, so boring. Couldn't find anything to buy there. I hope the Gap store here will not be like the one in Singapore.
