FWQ: rajo laurel

today was the first day of the third series of fashion watch quartet. hindy tantoco (who designs rustan's house brand culte femme) was supposed to open this series, but rajo laurel (who was originally scheduled to show september 2 and 4) switched places with her because he'll be having his own gala next month. and today rajo showed A LOT of clothes. forty-eight pieces in fact. and this was one of those shows where, instead of viewing the collection with a critic's eye, we were looking at each piece from a shopper's point of view. we couldn't help but think, we like that, we can wear that, we'll look tall and thin in that, we could use that for vicki belo's venetian ball this friday etc etc etc, know what we mean?? and then we realized why: this was rajo's ready-to-wear collection! the clothes were wearable (but we draw the line with those hammer-time pants), would be flattering on not-model-perfect bodies (not a mini or plunging neckline in sight), would hide a multitude of sins, er, flabs and flaws (thanks to those drapes and strategically positioned flaps and folds), and were age-friendly (without being dowdy or "mature" or pa-young). and the colors and fabrics will be perfect for the holiday season. well, rajo really knows who he's selling to—his loyal fans and friends of all shapes and ages were there in full force. the collection is called, well, "shapes" and will be available at house of laurel starting august 15. in september, rajo says expect something "more high fashion." can't wait! meanwhile, here's your catalog:

Were the shoes Vanessa Bruno or did he just copy them?
