iora vs raoul

last week was the battle of the singapore brands. to be honest, we aren't that familiar with fashion brands that are originally from singapore. so when these two brands opened shop in manila, we had no idea what they were or where they were from. but they are quite similar—they both sell women's ready-to-wear separates for everyday casual and for the office, a few dressy pieces for cocktails and formal affairs, and seasonal items just to keep them on track trend-wise.

in this corner: iora, which has actually been around for a few years now, just quietly opening here and there (and closing—it was one of the casualties of glorietta 2's notorious explosion two years ago). they had a lunchtime launch at the peninsula manila's rigodon ballroom. guests were mostly press, friends and family of the owners, the "landlords" (i.e., mall owners or execs), and the "iora stylephiles".
the collection:

in the other corner: raoul, which just opened its first branch in greenbelt 5 this year. they had a big launch at the mall's's fashion walk, where anyone who walks by can see (and crash) the party. owned by SSI, you can guarantee the presence of the A-list crowd at the event. (and take note, raoul has menswear too.)
the collection:

so who do you vote for? who is the winner??

There is actually no competition since they do not even share the same market. Raoul is very upscale, the dresses are in the 5-digit range, definitely for the ladies who lunch while Iora caters more to the working women...
