S&R day

today we finally took some time to replenish the supplies in our fridge and in our pantry (i.e., we need beer and chips!), so we decided to go to S&R in bonifacio global city because it was on the way. check out these new eco-bags available at S&R:
big and sturdy. we got one and paid P700 for it! actually it came free with the renewal of our membership. now we were thinking—we paid P700 to get the membership; why should we pay the same amount to renew it?? is this how it works with other membership cards?? if you didn't have to renew, the bags could also be had for P99.95 each. we thought, what lovely, juicy, summer colors! we love orange, green, and yellow! but when we saw them hanging like christmas parols above the cash registers, we thought, hmmm... villar, gibo, and noynoy... was this a coincidence or did someone in marketing come up with a brilliant idea? we should've asked which color was moving fast. personally, we wanted kate spade green but the hubby wanted hermès orange. well, the membership card is under his name, so hermès it is. (a completely non-political choice!) so since it had been a while since we were last in S&R, we went through each and every aisle to check out what's new in the junk-food and personal-hygiene departments. our discoveries...

if you're like our mother and can never finish a whole can of coke, how about a mini one? compare these 7.5-ounce cans of sprite with regular-sized coke cans. (we'll probably need a regular and a mini for the right amount.)
we used to be big fans of spam, but since we gave up pork a couple years ago, it kinda grosses us out now. but OK we'll admit, once in a while we'll have the turkey spam if we have to "cook" our own lunch. (eww what would jamie oliver say??)
there's always something new from pringles. cheddar cheese—not so unusual. but dill pickle?? interesting...
when you think of tootsie rolls, you think of those chewy chocolate candies. but check out these tootsie fruit rolls. does this count as your daily requirement for fruit, hehe... (kinda reminds us of a childhood candy called jojo, which was fruity and chewy... does anybody remember that??)
new packaging or a new flavor for M&M? looks like the latter because the bag says orange-flavored chocolate. this we gotta try...
dove for men?? who knew men needed a separate product? do they really? or is this the result of a crazy brainstorming idea that was taken seriously and then finally found its way into your supermarket shelf? well, most men ARE kinda minimalist (read: lazy) when it comes to personal hygiene, so yes it might be a good idea to combine the face wash and the body wash into one product.

We pay $100 a year for our Costco membership here, and yes, the renewal costs as much as the initial membership.
