last july 7, bulgari celebrated the 10th anniversary of its best-selling B.zero1 line with a swell soirée at the establishment. (any event that serves piper-heidsieck all night long is swellegant in our book!) for the international celebration of this iconic piece of jewelry, bulgari commissioned indian sculptor and artist anish kapoor to design a new B.zero1 ring.
Kapoor’s greatest contribution features the original combination of pink gold and reflecting steel surfaces. His interpretation merges tradition with contemporary innovation. The curved forms and the mirror-like surfaces, characteristic of his artworks, find shape in this new design which perfectly represents the contemporary Bulgari style. It is the first time that a Bulgari creation is interpreted by a contemporary and prominent international artist.
that night, the establishment was turned into a gallery of sorts as the original B.zero1 design and the collections that followed, all the way to the latest anish kapoor ring were encased in glass boxes for the guests to admire (read: drool over :-P). we were hoping that the artist himself was in the premises; unfortunately not. but there were enough beautiful people to go around...
