months ago, when we first heard that the tantoco group of companies was bringing in payless shoe source, we thought, oh please don't market it as a high-end brand!! the tantocos are known for being the exclusive distributor of luxury labels like hermès, bottega veneta, and gucci; mid-range designers like tory burch, kate spade, and marc by marc jacobs; and high-street brands like zara, gap, and nine west. but they have yet to bring in an internationally recognized "budget" brand. or shall we say cheap and chic, fast fashion brands like H&M, old navy, uniqlo, target, and yes, forever 21. so today when we attended the press launch of payless shoe source, our first question to payless' marketing communications manager crickette yu tantoco was, how much is your cheapest pair of shoes?? only around P350 for flip-flops! ok, that sounds promising! here she is welcoming the guests (and check out her cute sandals by payless of course!):
the event was held at the atrium of enderun colleges, the culinary-art school in bonifacio global city. check out the fancy interiors and the simple but effective setup:
see the stage? it was so high that during the mini fashion show, the shoes the models were wearing were at the guests' eye level. genius! there were tabletop setups for a few of the 50 brand names available at payless (though we're not sure if they'll be carrying all of them here): [EDIT: we were requested by local payless representatives to take down the photos with the designer shoes by isabel toledo, lela rose, and christian siriano. we will put them back up as soon as we get the go signal to release them]
now here's what they look like on actual feet! the first store is set to open on july 30 at festival supermall!
