let's eat: l'incontro

if you're looking for a new place to eat in, try l'incontro! technically speaking, this italian restaurant is not new; it's been around since the 90s. but it now has a new owner: meet tina pamintuan, the new owner-slash-chef of the new-and-improved l'incontro:
she invited us to try some of the dishes on the menu—dishes we would say are classic with a twist the tina way. the interiors have been tweaked, making the place brighter and more inviting. but since tina took over the restaurant lock, stock, and barrel, the changes have been coming along slowly but surely; a work in progress, if you will. the high-ceiling, barn-like interiors have been painted white, and they plan to develop the back wall into a wine-tasting station:
there's also an honest-to-goodness bar where tina will soon install a TV for the guys who want to view some sports during happy hour:
check out the rest of the tables. ideal for couples, groups, families (including a round table—we know how some people prefer them):
and for smokers who like to puff and chew at the same time, a huge area made just for them:
but of course, the highlight was the food! here's what we tried in tasting portions (and they all tasted gooooood...):

our drinks for the day: light, refreshing white wines from australia (love the label design!):
we started with insalata caprese (P390), served with italian buffalo mozzarella:
crepes con funghi e tartufo nero tartufo (P520)—mmm, the truffles are so fragrant and the mushrooms so plump:
for our primi, we chose pescatora tagliatelle (P410/P215), with generous servings of fish, mussels, and shrimp. perfect with the wine:
for secondi, we stuck with seafood and had this fancy seabass a sale (P960)—it's baked in aluminum foil, which is cut open right in front of you:
for dessert, we had little slices of belgian white chocolate cheesecake (P280), which went perfectly with our vittoria coffee:
l'incontro ristorante italiano is located at 207 nicanor garcia st. (formerly reposo st.), barangay bel-air, makati city, tel 899-0638 to 39
