we left manila saturday night and after 24 hours of traveling we finally reached our destination: new york city, baby!! it's been nearly 20 years since our last trip here. we didn't realize how far it was! check in at NAIA: three hours before our flight. manila to hong kong: two hours. then two hours stopover. hong kong to vancouver: 11 hours. then two hours stopover. vancouver to JFK: four hours. at least we flew cathay pacific business class!!
by the time we reached our hotel at 8am sunday morning, we were dying to take a shower and plop into bed. well, guess what? we were told that the hotel was fully booked so our room would not be ready for another SEVEN hours!!! at 3pm!!! haaaaaaayyy...
since everything was still closed and our NYC friends were still asleep, we decided to just walk around and see how far our feet would take us. consuelo de bobo the weather was pleasant enough--not raining, not windy, not freezing cold. it was "porma weather" :-) so tamang-tama lang yung aming suot na light coat, long-sleeve knit top, stretchy pants, and knee-high boots. some random shots during our walk:
at some point some dude with a brochure approached us and asked if we were interested in taking the two-hour hop on-hop off bus tour--for $44! argh why the hell not?? we had nothing but time at this point! so we hopped on but were too tired and worn out to hop off. some random shots from the bus's badly scratched frosted plastic roof:
