crocs candy collection

not a few people on facebook (and everywhere else) have called crocs the ugliest shoes they've ever seen. well, we defended them by commenting that we love our crocs!! pwe!! our name is the fash pack and we wear crocs. hahaha! not to say we are addicts and wear them everyday, even in our sleep. we wear them at the appropriate moments: for out-of-town trips, to the beach, for hiking, when pulling out, when doing shoots... so we were quite excited (!) to get an invite to the launch of crocs' new candy collection. ooh sounds delicious... so we trekked (not in our crocs) all the way to robinsons midtown today to find this sweet little setup outside the crocs store:
there was also a photographer present. shoppers were allowed to try on the crocs on display and have their picture taken for free! then they would be given a voucher to claim their photo at the store. you could also get a cute keychain for free IF you buy from the candy collection. smart marketing ploy!
so take your pic from the crocs on display:
below, this was the one we were eyeing. perfect for the beach or any sandy/dusty location because you can easily rinse your feet without having to remove your shoes. also ideal for boracay trips when you have to clamber on to a banca—no need to remove your shoes! no need to worry about your flip-flops swimming away!

what we did in montemar

on our second day, the management of montemar wanted to share with us one of the special services they offer their guests: a banca ride to a private cove and a picnic lunch. so they packed coolers full of raw pork, prawns, and fish for ihaw-ihaw. waw!
lezzgow!
the banca ride took about 30 minutes to the cove.
on the way, we spotted the bataan nuclear plant, which was built during the marcos era but never opened:
and this little islet, which the locals named jalosjos island because this is where he hid when he was a wanted man (and not in some bahay kubo, mind you; it was a real house with staff and all. the house has since been demolished—by bagyo daw):
there's our little private cove! with three umbrellas set up for us :-)
let the ihaw begin! by this time it was 11am and we can't believe we actually walked around under the sun (with sunblock and a wide-brimmed hat, of course) to take pictures...
and here's lunch woo-hoo! sarap!!

what we did in bataan

for all those years we used to go to montemar, we would always watch out for the cross at the top of the mountain. because that meant we were near na. but we had never gone up to see it up close—till now! just our luck, we arrived at the resort too early (10am) and could not check in till 2pm (again!!). so after brunch, the manager asked if we wanted to take a tour of the cross on mount samat. so we took a tour guide with us who appeared nervous us we twisted and turned on the steep zigzag road going up.
it took 30 minutes to the foot of the mountain and another 20 minutes to reach the top. wow! we didn't realize how high it was!
according to our tour guide, the cross is about 42 stories high. oh? ya think?
there's a scenic elevator that can take you to the top, then you can walk across to each end of the cross. the queue was too long and it must have been the hottest day of the year, so we skipped that part. you would probably just see more of this view:
well, we were quite impressed with the place. it was clean, well-maintained, and at least you get to see where the entrance fee that you pay goes! (P20 for "domestic"—that's us—and P30 for "foreign." why, we don't know. and if you're mestizo, good luck convincing them you're "domestic." better bring your passport haha!)

the fash packs: bataan

over the weekend, we got a loaner. isn't she cuuuute?? this is a mini cooper countryman S—which probably stands for sportscar. because even if it's a tiny car, it can go reeeeeaaalllyyy faaaaast. but don't try this at home, kids! this is only for the professionals (or crazy thrill-seekers ugh).
well, with a car like this, we just had to go out on the open road and go somewhere! so we decided to take it all the way to bataan. we proceeded to montemar beach club. blast from the past!
as a high school kid, we used to spend a lot of time in this resort with our family. it is now under new ownership and is being refurbished. recognize the inns??
a glimpse at the newly added grassy area and the beach:
later on, at around 5:30pm, we're gonna sit on one of these chairs, just in time for sunset cocktails :-)
the place was fully booked, so we were given the suite. so spacious! you can fit a family of six here, plus yayas!
our view (and check out that wraparound balcony!):
finally, at around 5:30pm, the sun started to set. we took a lot of shots till the sun was completely gone. here's one of our favorite shots. no adjusting or editing! beautiful!!

what is going on, blogger??

ok, this time the lack of posts isn't our fault! this morning, or rather friday morning, we wanted to post. but as we went to blogger.com, this popped up:

we refreshed several times, then this came out:

ano ba talaga, blogger?? kahit ano pa sabihin mo, palpak ka pa rin! then tonight we read this:

Google promises Blogger outage will be over 'soon'

Google's Blogger team says the service will be back to normal soon, after an outage that has so far lasted for almost two days.

The outage appears to have followed a maintenance release that was scheduled for Wednesday at 10pm, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). To fix the problem, the team had to temporarily take down all new posts and comments made on the popular blogging platform since early on Wednesday, the team wrote on the Blogger status page on Friday.

At 6:07am PDT on Friday, the team provided this update: "We've started restoring the posts that were temporarily removed and expect Blogger to be back to normal soon."

"We are very sorry that users are unable to publish to Blogger right now," the Blogger team wrote in a separate post on the service's Help forum. "We have rolled back the maintenance release from last night and as a result, posts and comments from all users made after 7:37 am PDT on May 11, 2011 have been removed.

"Again, we apologize that this happened and our engineers are working hard to return Blogger to normal and restore your posts and comments. We will post a report once this work is complete."

The downtime has caused outrage among many people who use Blogger to host their output, such as NoSoftwarePatents campaign founder Florian Mueller, who took a swipe at Sergey Brin's recent criticism of Microsoft.

"Google's Brin says Windows tortures users," Mueller tweeted on Friday. "I'm actually being tortured by Google's Blogger service: massive outage also affects my last post." (from www.zdnet.co.uk)

MYOH 2011

it's that time of the year again: make your own havaianas!
the fash pack was invited to make our own havaianas a day ahead of the crowd. no snaking queues YET, just groups of havaianaticos given their own special day.
the happy, ready-to-serve-you crew! (you might not be smiling this big tomorrow when the demanding crowd comes crushing in hehe ;-)
after getting a menu, choose your sole and strap (top, P845; slim, P845) color combo by turning that red thingy on the left. (we think we broke one. egg-zited much??)
this year's theme is travel! they have two limited-edition patterned soles called estampas (P945).
the pins (P100 each)! choose your country/city: new york, london, paris, rome, japan, australia, china, brazil, and, of course, the philippines! we chose all!
there are also cute dangling charms (P150 each):
we liked a shade called citrus green and chose a sole and strap in the same color (because we're boring that way haha). here's our guy mark working on our pair:
the finished product!
then you go up the steps leading to an extra tent outside to pay. it's gonna be HOT, so dress comfortably! express lane for up to two pairs on the left. for more than two pairs, queue on the right:
look who we spotted (again!) making havaianas for her whole family—the sea princess! photo op! (can you spot the fash pack??)
make your own havaianas starts thursday, may 12 till monday, may 16 at rockwell tent, from 10am-9pm (but doors close at 8pm). go go go!!!
