rooftop restos

there's a new trend in town and it's rooftop restaurants. actually, these places are more for hanging out than for eating. nice to have a cocktail and some pika-pika. i got to try the two that are getting a lot of buzz. first was sky deck located at the top of the bayleaf hotel in intramuros, manila. who knew such a chic-looking hotel existed within the old walled city?

the sky deck is located at the top of the nine-floor hotel and gives you sweeping views of old manila. you can see the city hall clock tower, the national museum, the golf course, and beyond. i'd love to come back and watch the sun set on a good day...
the views are unobstructed and the air is pleasant, but what happens when it rains..?
on the other side of town is skye lounge, located at the top of W high street in bonifacio global city:
they've done a bit of re-arranging since they first opened, moving the bar from the center off to the side. probably so the big umbrella can protect people when it starts to rain:
